Dormaa Ahenkoro – January 4, 2026 — In a poignant display of solidarity and respect, a high-powered delegation from West End University College (WEUC) joined the people of the Dormaa Traditional Area yesterday to bid a final farewell to the university’s late Registrar, Nana Kojo Danso-Mensah (1952–2025).
The late Registrar, who also served the traditional area with distinction as Barimah Oppong Kyeremeh Sikafoo II, the Dormaa Akwamuhene, was honored in a ceremony that blended academic reverence with the rich cultural traditions of the Bono Region.
A Fitting Farewell
The university’s presence at the funeral was both significant and deeply felt. Dressed in traditional mourning attire, the WEUC delegation stood alongside family members and traditional leaders to honor a man whose legacy spanned both the halls of academia and the stools of traditional leadership.
The emotional weight of the day was captured in the customized tributes and memorial items prepared for the occasion, bearing the image of the late Nana Kojo Danso-Mensah with the heartfelt inscription: “Forever in Our Hearts, Daddy.”
Strength in Solidarity
The representation from West End University College was a testament to the community’s “unwavering commitment to social support in times of grief,” according to members of the delegation. Our presence underscored the deep professional and personal bonds the Registrar had cultivated throughout his tenure at the college.
Among the prominent attendees was Prof. Awuah Nyamekye, the University of Cape Coast (UCC) representative on the WEUC Council, who joined the university management in paying their last respects.
Gratitude to Leadership
The University Management wishes to extend its profound gratitude to our esteemed Chancellor, the dedicated Rector, and the entire Management team. Their logistical efforts and commitment were instrumental in facilitating the delegation’s trip to Dormaa, ensuring that the college provided a tribute worthy of the Registrar’s life and legacy.
As we mourn the loss of a pillar of our institution, we remain inspired by his service and the profound impact he left on both the West End University College and the Dormaa Traditional Area.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.
